Hypnotherapy Introduction

Hypnotherapist based in Calabasas and serving San Fernando Valley, Conejo Valley, and Simi Valley for over 20 years.

The American Society of Clinical Hypnosis defines Hypnosis as "a state of inner absorption, concentration, and focused attention." Hypnosis is also a state of physical and mental relaxation. However, hypnotherapy provides not only relaxation and stress reduction but also therapeutic intervention. Suggestions are made while you are in this "altered state of focused attention." Imagine you are sitting in a movie theater watching one of the best movies you have ever seen. You are not thinking about the bills you have to pay, your job, studying for that exam, or what the person sitting next to you is doing. You are immersed in the movie. You are in an altered state of focused attention. Another example of hypnosis is when you read a very well-written novel. You become part of the story. This is also an "altered state of focused attention."

You are always in control. You cannot be made to do something that you wouldn't consider doing. In my office, you are asked to make yourself comfortable. You may either lie down or sit up. Most people find that by closing their eyes, they can imagine and see things more clearly and can relax even more deeply. However, closing your eyes is up to you. This pleasant, very relaxed state is called the state of trance. You will always be able to open your eyes, will feel very comfortable, and will have no unpleasant after-effects.

In a relaxed state, therapeutic suggestions are given for positive improvement and change, and then additional suggestions are given that will stay with you after you leave my office, and you will find these positive suggestions to be easily retrievable, easily useable, and easily doable. In fact, most people tell me that hypnotherapy is better than an hour-long massage and that they often hear my voice after they leave my office and during the week, offering suggestions and support. I guess you might say that I am like "Jiminy Cricket" to Pinocchio.

Hypnosis can help you with weight loss, smoking cessation, fear of flying, chronic pain, dental phobia, insomnia and sleep problems, self-confidence, stress management, childbirth, study habits, sports performance, test anxiety, Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), panic, fears and phobias, nausea caused by either chemotherapy or pregnancy, migraine headaches, habits such as nail biting, social confidence just to name a few.

Anyone can experience the positive results of expertly delivered suggestions in a supportive and caring environment if you trust in the hypnotherapist. You must want to experience hypnosis because no one can force you to do anything you truly don't want to do. Hypnosis bypasses the conscious mind and accesses that part of you that says, "I know I can," the unconscious mind. You will always be respected. Please contact me to discuss how hypnotherapy can benefit you.

You must be the change that you wish to see in the world.
